Muscle Memory — Anatomical Heart in a Tattooed Hand, Hand-Drawn on Burnt-Edge Paper
An anatomical heart gripped in a tattooed hand, with a handwritten line of poetry on burnt-edge paper.
Muscle Memory is a hand-drawn sketch of a red anatomical heart gripped in a tattooed hand, with a few blood drops falling and a handwritten line of poetry: “muscle memory penetrates deep into the heart, it seems…”. The whole piece sits on torn, burnt-edge paper that gives it a vintage, found-journal look.
It is a drawing about the things the body remembers even when the mind wants to let go. The heart is drawn with real anatomy — the arteries and chambers — rather than a cartoon shape, and the tattooed hand ties it back to the tattoo flash side of haylienart.
The tall, poster-like layout suits framed prints, t-shirts, tote bags, phone cases, greeting cards and notebooks, and the heart in hand also works as a sticker. Muscle Memory is an original hand-drawn piece by Hayley, an artist in Reno, Nevada, available through her Redbubble shop.
